Kurunegala District Youth Chess Championship, 2012 conducted by Chess Federation of Sri Lanka will be held on 10, 11th and 12th of February at Maliyadeva College Kurunegala. Prospectus are detailed out in this post as released by the CFSL.

Kurunegala District Youth Chess Championships 2012

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka is organizing The Kurunegala District Youth Chess Championships’12 on 10th,11th and 12th of February 2012 at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala. This is one of the most important Chess events for the youth chess players in the Kurunegala District and winners will be eligible to play the National Youth Chess Championships with those selected from the 15 other districts. All those who wish to participate in international youth events must participate in this event.

Event:

There will be total of 14 separate, individual events (Under 06, 08, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 years, Open and Girls). The events will be held according to the Swiss System over 5 rounds.

Eligibility:

Those who are below the respective age group before the 1st of January 2012 are eligible to participate in the event. All Champions of National Youth Chess Championships last year, if they are playing in the same age category, qualify to play the National youth Chess Championships ’12 directly. All rated players and all players who played in the Sri Lanka National/ Women’s National ‘A’ or ‘B’ 2012 will receive direct entry to the Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championships.

Venue : Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala.

Schedule: one round on Friday and two rounds each on Saturday, and Sunday.

Awards : Winners will be awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and certificates and number of players to be qualified will be announced before the 1st round.

Entry Fee: An entry fee of Rs. 400/= will be charged. A late fee of Rs. 100/= will be charged for entries received after 7.00 p.m on the 8th of February 2012.

Entries: The entries, with the relevant entry fee should reach or handed over to the organizing committee before the 8th February 2012

Special Registration: 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm on 8th February 2012 at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala

Note:  All players participating in CFSL events should register with the Chess Federation providing their personnel details and an annual registration fee of Rs. 200/=. (The life membership is 2,500/=) This registration should be renewed in each year. CFSL will issue an ID card for the players registered and players are obliged to provide the ID card whenever the CFSL request them to do so. Registration facilities will be available throughout this event.
